Power outages leave thousands of Austinites without electricity.


Approximately 10,500 people are still without power as of 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the Austin Energy outage map.

AUSTIN, Texas — Following Friday night’s thunderstorm, many Austinites are still without power.

According to Austin Energy’s outage map, at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Friday, there were power outages that affected 31,409 people in the city.

While many people regained power at some point during the night, approximately 10,500 people are still without power as of 10 a.m. Saturday, according to Austin Energy’s outage map. Check Austin Energy outages in your area.

Some KVUE viewers and Austin Energy customers said as of Saturday morning, they were still without power after 12 and 13 hours.

Austin Energy said its crews are working vigilantly to clear any damage and are prioritizing restoration for those who have been without power the longest. As of 10 a.m. Saturday, Austin Energy said crews still had to address approximately 60 hazards, there were four broken poles and several outages needed tree trimming.

An estimated time of restoration for all customers is currently unavailable.
