Aiming to supply 630 MW of clean energy to the National Electric System (SEN), Mainstream agreed to build five connection lines that will link its parks, grouped in the portfolio called “Huemul”, to the national energy matrix. This is equivalent to the annual consumption of 780 thousand homes and will prevent the emission of more than 744 thousand metric tons of CO 2 a year in Chile.

The “Huemul” portfolio is the second phase of Andes Renovables, one of the largest wind and solar generation platforms in Latin America, whose projects were winners in the 2016 public electricity supply tender, and which will contribute 1,300 MW to the SEN. Regarding the wind projects in the “Huemul” portfolio, for the connection of the Ckani wind farm, Mainstream partnered with Inprolec to build a 22-kilometer electrical transmission line that will supply the project’s 109 MW of power to the SEN. For its part, the Llanos del Vientos wind farm will be connected through a 23.5-kilometer route, which will be built by the consortium formed by Siemens and Isotron. Both wind projects are located in the Antofagasta Region. These are in addition to the already announced agreement between the company and Transelec for the injection of clean energy into the country produced by the Puelche Sur wind farm, located in the Los Lagos Region, through the new Frutillar Norte substation.

Finally, the Pampa Tigre solar park, located in the Antofagasta Region, will have a generation capacity of 100 MW, and will make use of the 13 km transmission line of the Cerro Tigre wind project of Mainstream, whose substation connecting to the SEN is built by the Siemens and Agrosonda consortium. Finally, the Valle Escondido solar park, located in the Atacama Region, will be interconnected to the SEN through a transmission line of more than 55 kilometers, whose construction, operation and maintenance is in charge of Transelec, and will be shared with the Rio solar park Hidden, which Mainstream builds in the area.
